Published report comment
Routine inspection conducted at the facility due to a recent change of ownership. Items that require additional action: #2- A plan to ensure there is a person in a supervisory role that has their food protection manager certification, and they are at the facility a majority of the time. The current CFPM that is the designated person in charge at multiple locations, some of which are several hours away, this does not meet the requirement. #3- With new ownership, there is no verifiable employee illness reporting agreement policy. Employee illness Form 1-B was provided by the inspector otherwise a copy from corporate that meets requirements for Iowa may be used. #5- Facility does not have a written facility specific bodily fluid cleanup procedure. #16- Hard to reach areas on the self-service Coke machine have an excess buildup of grime, which will require additional cleaning and sanitizing by a technician. #38- Additional cleaning and sanitizing of the sink near the cash register, inspector recommends following CDC guidelines on cleaning mouse-droppings to ensure it is done properly. As well as addressing the visible daylight at the front entrance door, as this could be a potential entry-point for pests. Facility recently had a visit from Terminenx on 6/4/26 and there were no reported activity. Inspector recommends the facility install bait stations and traps (will need to be done by Terminex or pest control company.) #39- During the time of inspection manager was able to contact the owner about the AC leak. Table has been blocked off and signage has been posted for customers to not use. #47- Manager agrees to follow-up with the owner about the need for new cutting boards, as with current condition they cannot be effectively sanitized. #48- Manager agrees to follow-up with the owner about obtaining new quaternary test strips. #50- Manager agrees to follow-up with the owner about the hot water issue in the restrooms. Other hand sinks throughout took a few minutes to reach 100 degrees as well. Potential work may be needed to ensure hot water is available to meet peak demands and that it is not intermittent. #55- Manager agrees to follow-up with manager about the grouting, missing baseboard, broken tile near the grill, and the gapping around the pipe on the hand sink near cash register. Manager agrees to perform additional cleaning on the area near the three-compartment sink and behind 3-compartment sink. #56- Manager agrees to follow-up with owner about ventilation cleaning. The health dept. will follow-up on or after 06/20/2026 for a physical re-inspection. Any questions or follow-up can be sent to Raymond.Miller@scottcountyiowa.gov Follow-up will be completed on or after 6/20/2026 by Physical Recheck.
