Routine inspection conducted at the facility on 04/13/2026 due to a non-illness complaint. Complaint is UNVERIFIED, but could have likely occurred. The facility managers on duty were unaware of such complaint. Complainant shared concerns with SCHD as they claimed to have found metal from a grill scraper on their bacon burger on 4/10/2026. Discussed the issue with management, and they explained that the grill scraper in question is not used on the flat top grill that burgers are cooked on. The grill scraper in question was in poor condition and was replaced with a new one during the inspection. Additional training is recommended on what scraper is to be used on which grill, in the event that staff may have used the incorrect one on the flat top. As well as ensuring staff and management replace the scraper as soon as it becomes excessively work or begins to shed, to avoid this physical contaminant from occurring in the future. Items that require additional action: #10- Management agrees to replace the hand soap dispenser that is broken, as well as provide hand soap at the hand sink in the meantime. As well as ensure that hand sinks are kept unobstructed and easily accessible. #15- Management agrees to provide additional training with staff on proper glove use. #16- Management agrees to perform additional cleaning on the fans and ceiling in the walk-in cooler. #38- Management agrees to address the visible daylight at the front entrance door. #47- Management agrees to order new cutting boards and look into addressing the ice formation in the meat walk-in cooler. #50- Management agrees to ensure maintenance staff currently on-site address the hot water issue on this particular hand sink. #55- Management agrees to ensure that the corner of the bar is cleaned. The health dept. will follow-up on or after 04/23/2026. Any questions can be sent to Raymond.Miller@scottcountyiowa.gov Follow-up will be completed on or after 4/23/2026 by Physical Recheck.
